Hounslow Early Years Leadership & Management Suite
I was employed by Hounslow Early Years to deliver their Suite of Leadership and Management Courses and workshops. This included:
- ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management
- ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management
- Meeting the Management Challenge (four workshops covering different leadership and Management challenges)
- Coaching and mentoring for effective supervision
- Problem solving and decision making
- Time management
- Creating a quality environment.
These courses have been running successfully every term for the last seven years. Many settings, children, and their families have reaped the benefits from the increased understanding, behaviour changes etc as a result of attending this training.
This leadership and management training was designed and delivered by Alice to Early Years Professionals in Ealing in 2010.
The course was was tailored to meet the specific needs identified by Ealing’s early years service and highlighted their commitment to their EYPs and the value they place on the skills, knowledge and passion that they bring to childcare in the borough.
The purpose of the two days was to not only show Ealing EYPs how much they are valued as EYP’s in Ealing by investing in their development, but also to share the Ealing Vision with them with regards to the quality and standard of childcare in the area.
The training team have received a lot of praise from setting managers due to the high quality of training and how much we support and have available for providers with CPD opportunities.
Chrissie Ellam (Head of Early Years) has been e-mailed and I have received e-mails from providers and lots of good comments related to your training. One of our advisors has said that [anon] is a changed person after attending your “Meet the Management Challenge” workshops and she has really stepped up.
All thanks to you.
So I wanted to say well done and thank you as well as the training team has received praise for this also. You should be very proud of yourself.
Sharnjit Mahal, Training Coordinator
I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed and learnt on the ILM Level 5 Leadership course with Alice. I know you all know Alice is a brilliant trainer and great person to be doing this course. She is always helpful, supportive, understanding and full of ideas and experience. Plus a very good sense of humour. This is vital in my book.
As an experience manager its brilliant to be able to learn new things and reflect on practice which I always do and look at my professional development. Has the course met my goals and objectives, oh yes. Which where to learn more theory about leadership. It’s also taught me much more.
I have been looking at my leadership skills, again looked at my strengths as a leader and my areas of weakness/development and I have the answers of how to develop these areas. I have read some fab books too. The course has made me look at how I am lead by my bosses.
I have one more session next week with Alice. I am really going to miss Alice’s sessions. Please can we get Alice to do something else for managers. Please pass on my thanks to Alice.

Wow! What a GREAT feeling.
You have just been such a fabulous tutor, totally inspirational.
The staff at the setting have noticed a massive change in me, and perhaps even the little dudes too. It is great to see that they are running the course again…..everyone needs to do this!
Thank you for ALL your help and motivational emails!
Thank you . You have taught me so much.
You really are an inspirational trainer and somehow managed to put me ease and make me believe I could do it.
I just wanted to say before the last session on the 21st June how much I have learnt and enjoyed the training. Before I came on the training I had heard about you from other managers about how brilliant you were and an excellent trainer. They where so right.
The course has really has made me think, reflect and develop in my leaderships skills and the way in which my managers lead me. I have read some of the books you said to and after the last session I went out and brought the ‘One Minute Managers Book Meets The Monkey”. I have been putting this into practice and it’s working so far.
I just wanted to say thank you so much Alice and what a fab and brilliant trainer you are, I have learnt so much. I cannot believe the sessions will be coming to an end. I need to ask Hounslow to pay you to come and do the a level qualification in coaching…
I have only just started out in my trainer career mostly at work and been ask to do the other settings training in house and guest speaker at colleges we partnership with. I hope when I am ready to go it alone on my own as a trainer I am as half as good as you.
